We are aware that local residents are being contacted
via a computer voice message over the telephone about Olin Community Credit
Union loans, accounts, credit and debit cards. DO NOT
supply any personal information to the phone number provided in the message.
The following numbers, (515) 414-2534 and (231) 732-2629, have been provided
to the credit union as two of the fraudulent numbers. The telephone numbers
listed in the voice message is not affiliated with Olin
Community Credit Union. Please call the credit union at (618) 258-3168
if you have any questions. Members who have been
victimized by this scam must notify the credit union in order to halt
activity on accounts and should also notify local authorities to file
a report. |
Olin Community Credit Union's database has not been compromised. The calls are being generated by an automatic dialing system, resulting in calls to area residents and businesses. The credit union has rapidly responded to phone calls by issuing notices to members via e-mail, the web site, phone system and through area businesses. Please note that it is the practice of Olin Community Credit Union to never call or email members to ask for social security numbers, account numbers, credit card numbers, debit card numbers, expiration dates, or other personal information.
To further protect members against fraud, the credit union participates in electronic real-time fraud monitoring programs on credit and debit cards. The credit union also trains staff to be on alert for and notify management of possible fraudulent activity. Employees attend regular training regarding common scams and fraudulent activity. Through an internal notification system, staff are routinely notified of any current or local scams and attempted fraud. Through its newsletter and other communications to members, the credit union is proactive in educating members about identity theft and fraud.Through its aggressive monitoring programs and staff training, the credit union routinely prevents attempted fraud.
We are taking action against fraud, with the installation of new ID scanners
at each of our branch locations. Our president, Don Reedy, has issued a special
message to the members:
Our new ID scanners enable us to attach your photo ID to your account. Any of
our employees can assist you with this process. The few seconds that it will
take is aimed at preventing you from incurring fraudulent losses. Thank you
